Circolo Golf Villa D’Este Como
To some a par 69 layout maybe an unappetizing prospect however this is certainly not the case. With the magnificent Lake Montorfano as the centrepiece, the course winds its way through uniformly arranged Ash and Pine trees making accurate driving the order of the day.Measuring in at a mere 6,391 yards it is easy to think you can simply bully your way round Circolo Golf Villa D’Este but its narrow fairways demand constant precision throughout the round, testing even the most talented golfers basic skills.
Menaggio and Cadenabbia Golf
In 1923 the field became a difficult 18-hole Par 64 course. In 1963, the then President Antonio Roncoroni called John Harris to redesign the course, which underwent a real revolution with the addition of 4 new holes and the modification of another 8. The Par grew from 66 (the old 64 that had undergone minor modifications) to 69. Today the course has undergone, under the current Presidency, some further changes that have brought the par to 70. The plants have grown and the fairways have narrowed and the course is very delicate.
Lugano Golf Club, Switzerland
The Lugano Golf Club is situated in Magliaso, Switzerland just over the border from Lake Como in the picturesque region of Malcantone. Located near to the lake, it winds over flat ground amidst birch, oak and pine woods and clusters of rhododendrons. The Magliasina River is flanked or crossed on at least eight occasions, offering players an ongoing challenge. Long holes, designed for powerful play, are alternated with shorter, narrower ones that require greater precision.
Golf Club Punta Ala
Golf Club Punta Ala is situated outside the prosperous seaside resort of the same name in southern Tuscany, where the fairways are laid on a promontory overlooking the island of Elba in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Simply put, it’s an absolutely beautiful spot to play golf. This upmarket resort destination is largely frequented by wealthy people who own luxury second homes in the area and possibly have a boat moored in the marina. Sailing regattas are actually Punta Ala’s main claim to sporting fame but the golf the course was literally carved out of a dense forest in the early 1960s when its eighteen playing corridors were a property above the town. A gorge also cuts through the site and this natural feature is brought into play.
Golf Club Roma Acquasanta
Founded in 1903, the Circolo del Golf Roma Acquasanta, despite being Italy’s oldest golf course, is absolutely in line with the times. Also known as the Acqua Santa Golf Club, it is located in the heart of the capital, along Via Appia Nuova, surrounded by places of unparalleled artistic beauty. To the right of Hole 1, the ancient buildings of the Acquasanta spa built in the 15th century by Pope Paul V. Behind the tee of hole 3, a source of beneficial waters famous for the legend nymph Egeria The course, expanded over time, now features no less than 18 holes of varying difficulty, including climbs with impressive panoramic views, rows of maritime pines and eucalyptus trees, water obstacles, bunkers and grass embankments. In its entirety, the course requires precision rather than power. A refined clubhouse and restaurant fits in with the history.
Circolo Golf Ugolino
The natural contours of the Chianti slopes have produced an outstanding course, threaded through indigenous vines, olive trees, pines and broom. This 18-hole course is south of Florence in the picturesque setting of the Impruneta hills. The undulating terrain makes for a gorgeous setting with views of the local vineyards and an interesting challenge for golfers. It’s not long so it requires imagination.
Marco Simone Golf Club Rome
The redesign of Marco Simone Golf and Country Club, led by European Golf Design in cooperation with Tom Fazio II, began in August 2018 and was completed in March 2021. It focused on creating a golf course specifically with the drama of match play in mind, with the previous layout rerouted not only to provide numerous risk and reward opportunities for the world’s leading players, but also to maximize the natural rolling countryside terrain. Players and Fans will have unrivalled vantage points of the on-course action as well as distant views of the famous Eternal City, including spectacular views of St Peter’s Basilica and of the Castle of Marco Simone which together will provide the backdrop to golf’s greatest team contest.
Circolo del Golf Roma Acquasanta
Founded in 1903, the Circolo del Golf Roma Acquasanta, also known as the Acqua Santa Golf Club, is located in the heart of the capital and surrounded by places of unparalleled artistic beauty.
